Missed sessions

I charge a full fee for missed sessions, even if you give me sufficient notice. I do not charge for the sessions that didn’t happen because of my “initiative”: so I take my holidays and my sick leaves at my own expense.

I do so because I consider my patients as my employers. As an employee, I expect a steady paycheck even when my boss is on holiday, needs to see their doctor, or has another pressing matter.

Aside from steady payments, I expect a predictable work schedule. For this, I do not move sessions in the short run: I view all hours other than those we agreed on as my free time. However, if your new circumstances prevent you from attending our regular hour at all, we may find for us another time.

As a result, the predictable payment and timetable facilitate the creation of trusting relationships between patient and analyst. Humans tend to over-control or avoid an unstable source of good, and I don't believe anyone needs an analyst who does the same.

Length of the analysis and its completion

Analysis, even with a five-times-a-week frequency, rarely fits into a period of less than two years and usually lasts longer. As each analytical couple is unique, each analysis requires its own duration and frequency.

The psychoanalysis assumes work with an open completion date. As with any important action, it is better to end the analysis gradually. However, the patient retains the right to finish their analysis at any time.
